Musical THTR Workshop (Ages 8-18)
THTR is a newly formed production company created by Ken Urso, Danny Gorman, and Dan Gutierrez, whose combined credits include the Broadway productions of Chicago and Sunset Boulevard, the West End productions of Man of La Mancha and Carousel, as well as teaching at the Actors Studio Drama School in New York and at the Kennedy Center.
This weekend workshop will have three components: monologue work, acting through song, and dance. Students will come with a prepared song and monologue of their choice, which will be coached by Ken and Danny. (A list of songs and monologues will be provided for those who may not have options in mind). Then, Dan will teach a dance combination from a Broadway musical.
Each day will start with group vocal and physical warm-ups, theater exercises, and various group lessons. This will be followed by individual coaching in a studio session. The entire weekend will culminate in a presentation of the participants’ monologue, song and dance followed by a talkback.
The goal of this workshop is to give students the New York Theater experience, as well as build community, support artistic growth, and most importantly: have fun!
