In View of the Whale: Songs and Poems of Social Justice

Join us for an evening of prominent local poets’ readings interspersed with music sung by SebArts’ new choirs led by John Maas, aligned with Joe Sances’ monumental 51 ft long whale embodying myriad historical images relating to social justice and environmental degradation.
Poets will include SoCo’s current Poet Laureate, Elizabeth Herron, previous SoCo Poet Laureate, Terry Ehret, and more!
December Session: Cloisonné Enameling on Fine Silver
Saturday, December 17th and December 18th, 2022

Located in the Painting/Drawing Studio at SebArts
Imagine and create jewel-like art by working with beautiful vitreous (glass) enamel colors fired on fine silver!
Cloisonné on fine silver is an ancient technique for decorating fine silver objects with colored vitreous (glass) enamel. The colors are separated by thin strips of fine silver wire and fired in the kiln at 1450 degrees for 1 ½ minutes. Many layers of color can be built up with individual firings.
Clay Workshop for Youth (Ages 6-12)
Thursdays, January 14, 2023 - February 2, 2023 (4 sessions)
3:30pm-5:30pm
$230 + $20 Clay Fee
In this 4-session class, we will explore clay from a beginner's perspective, learning about different materials and hand-building processes as we move through projects.
Students will be given guidance each lesson on projects such as slab-built functional pottery and coil-built sculptures while being encouraged to follow their own creative visions!

Saint Stephens Episcopal Church (NEW VENUE, the past 2 years), 500 Robinson Rd., Sebastopol
$10-$20 donation requested.
Dress warmly, as windows and doors will be open, for healthy ventilation!
Listeners and singers at all skill levels are welcome! Singers from SebArts' new choirs will join us this year, to bolster our choral sound.
We will have separate areas for masked and unmasked attenders, unless public health status requires all to mask.
