Jens-Peter Jacobsen & Paul Cézanne

These two mentors influenced and changed Rilke profoundly. Danish writer, poet, and botanist Jens-Peter Jacobsen was a pioneer in writing about nature in literature. He looms large in Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet. Paul Cézanne’s groundbreaking paintings and colors overwhelmed Rilke and became the subject of numerous letters from Rilke to his wife in 1907. Dr. Jon Jackson shows you how these life mentors significantly changed Rilke. Come join this in-person and interactive presentation.
