Art Spots: John Singer Sargent with Linda Loveland Reid

from $15.00

May 11, 2023 10:30am - 12:00pm

Born in Florence, in 1856, expatriate Sargent reached the pinnacle of his fame during the Gilded Age, of which he became the quintessential portrait painter.

A cosmopolitan gentleman, his “sitters” were the rich, flamboyant, and famous of the world. Paris was home until his scandalous painting, what came to be called Madame X, drove him to England where he eventually turned to watercolor and landscapes. To touch bases with this important artist is to review the most glamorous period in our history, and to be amazed by beautiful paintings.
