Adventures with Clay - Handbuilding (Ages 5-12)

An exciting class for children who enjoy the satisfaction of creating something with their own hands.

The course will cover the basics of pinch pots, coil, and sculpture. We'll have special projects (animal sculptures, pet bowls, secret boxes) as well as unstructured time to work and play.

The goal of this course is for youth to gain confidence in their ability to imagine something and then build it!

About the instructor:

Alice Rathjen has over 40 years of experience working with clay. She was a production potter for five years. The current focus of her “art” is the sheer pleasure of playful engagement and exploration of clay as a forgiving material. She enjoys throwing exquisite bowls, mugs, and cups and seeing them go on adventures.
