Marguerite
said, "My students are my family." So, I am thankful for having
been born twice: once in blood and once in craft. What an incredible
inheritance of first cousins I enjoy. I am now Krehan, Marcks, Wildenhain,
Schwarz and jeez, Paul Klee on violin. Everything is relative, relative,
relative.
She also said in a letter
to Grandfather Marcks, "Dean Schwarz is good, but not the best…"
[of her students]. She forced all of her family to earn our egos.
But no one can match hers, with the exception of Hunt Prothro.
I make pots with my son
Gunnar now. Marguerite is always present to add and subtract from
that pleasure. So, since my students are also my family, we find
many forests of family trees. So, excuse me for a minute; I have
to go to the kiln room to see if the pot we made is still as gorgeous
as it was when it was born into our family.
