I
was a young man disillusioned with University, alienated from world
views of my authoritarian parents, seeking a vision. Friends sent
me to Marguerite Wildenhain to learn pottery. She became an unambiguous
career and life source. I carry on her relentless drive for mastery
and completeness with her commitment to beauty. Her wisdom about
living, change, risk, adventure and integrity - as well as her shortcomings
and blind alleys - are vital reference points today. December 26,
