Some
thirty years ago at Pond Farm I was struggling with a problem of
proportion, or texture or unity of a set, I've forgotten. Marguerite
saw this and my distress. "You think that the problems that you
have now are difficult. The real problems will come much later,
when you are 50 or 60. Then you will question yourself and what
you are doing." Throughout Marguerite's teaching, her writing, her
work and her personal life ran the constant theme of being in the
present and growth. I would give anything for one moment of her
insight now as I continue to try to close the gap between the vision
and the reality.
