Jere and Kate Huffman
Statement

Jere and Kate Huffman attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa where they were introduced to clay and Marguerite's "Steps" by Dean Schwarz. They went to Guerneville, California for many summers to study with Marguerite Wildenhain and David Stuart. Inspiration for their careers in clay came from the influence of these three wonderful master potters. Jere and Kate have been studio potters in What Cheer, Iowa since 1972, co-owners of the Iowa Artisans Gallery in Iowa City from 1984 to 1990 whose work has been shown throughout Iowa, for over 30 years at the Renaissance Festivals in Minnesota and Arizona and as part of The Wildenhain Legacy show in 1983 in Rock Island, Illinois and Ripples: Marguerite Wildenhain and her Pond Farm Students at CSU San Bernardino in 2002. Marguerite gave them the discipline and dream to be the dedicated potters they are today.
