Marguerite
has by far had a great influence on my life. In 1968 the first summer
that I attended Pond Farm, I had no idea what I was going to do
with my life. My short-term goal was to stay in college and out
of the military. During that summer Marguerite encouraged me to
be a potter. After a critique toward the end of the session she
told me I could be a potter. It was the first time anyone ever suggested
I had talent and could do something with my life. That fall when
I returned to Luther College I made art my main course of study.
After I started my pottery business she continued to helped me with
my own work as well as how one should teach apprentices. She continually
influences my work as well as my daily life.
