A Sweet Evening of Songs from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s
Friday, September 18, 7:30 pm; $12
In the 1920's, gin came in a bathtub and making love could simply be sweet words whispered at the train station. In the 1930's, Busby Berkeley cast a kaleidoscope of dancing beauties on the silver screen to help people forget the breadlines outside. In the 1940's, crooners and torch singers kept those longing for love, and those lamenting it, sighing into their cocktails. Lizann Bassham and Darryl Fenley perform those sweet songs from the 20's, toe tappers from the 30's and songs of the heart from the 40's.

“Green” Gilbert & Sullivan Sing-Along
Saturday, January 16, 7 pm. Admission $10. Seating limited!
Sebastopol Savoyards, Ltd., invite you to a new “Green” Gilbert & Sullivan Sing-Along.
The 8th in a Series of Savoy Celebrations, the evening will feature songs exploring the Flora, Fauna and Facets of Nature’s Bounty as given us by Messrs. Gilbert and Sullivan. You’ll become characters from Operas less familiar (The Sorcerer, Princess Ida, Ruddygore), but which contain no less sprightliness, beauty and charm. Words and music for these numbers will be provided!
You’ll meet “Cox & Box” and spend time at “The Zoo” (Sullivan without Gilbert), and read one of the “Bab” Ballads (Gilbert without Sullivan). Of course, favorites from past years will be yours to sing, as well as additional melodies from these well-known Operas.
Kermit the Frog has said: “It isn’t easy being green” – but it IS different and it IS relevant. As always, Sebastopol Savoyards along with Chris Alexander at the piano will lend their talents and support to help you join in the fun – however much or little as you want to participate - or, just sit back and enjoy Gilbert’s timeless words and Sullivan’s always-fresh music as they Compliment each other and Cleverly Combine to Create the Savoy Art.
