Best of the Fest Film Series

We are bringing you six of our favorite documentaries from this year's festival to play at Sebastopol Center for the Arts starting July 22. Films include our most popular film and our two award winners. If you didn't have a chance to catch them during the festival, don't miss them now. Tickets available at Sebastopol Center for the Arts, $10 or all six screenings for $50.  All shows start at 7pm.

Fri, Sept 23 – Stories From an Undeclared War. STORIES FROM AN UNDECLARED WAR is a feature-length documentary about The Freedom Writers Diary, a collection of journal entries written by 150 'at-risk' students from Long Beach, California who were once considered 'unteachable.' Encouraged by teacher Erin Gruwell and inspired by the writings of Anne Frank, the students discovered a new way to express themselves and began to care more about history, humanity, and perhaps most importantly, their futures. This new documentary follows their story from the first day of Freshman Year in 1994 to the present day.

Fri, Oct 7 – Deconstructing Dad. Winner of SDFF 2011 Critic’s Award. An exploration of composer and inventor Raymond Scott. You know him from classic Warner Bros. cartoons and he was the first electronic music pioneer. From the unique perspective of his filmmaker son, he leaves a more complicated legacy.

Fri, Oct 28 –Goodnight Nobody. Winner of SDFF 2011 Jury Award and one of the most beautiful films we’ve ever screened. It is a sleepless trip through one night in the unusual lives of four insomniacs. They are night people against their will, floating between a dream world and dream-like reality.

Hours:
Tuesday - Friday 10am - 4pm Saturday 1 - 4pm
