Enriching children's lives
and providing opportunities to develop creativity, confidence and problem
solving skills are at the core of the Art Center's children's education
programs. Classes designed for preschoolers, children and teens in ceramics,
studio arts, drama, music and dance are offered after school and during
vacations periods. Limited class size allows for free exploration of many
art processes with individual instruction for all skill levels.
Classes just for teens
Specific classes for teens provide an inviting, non-competitive and
fun environment for self-expression and social interaction. A number of
adult-level classes are available to teens with special permission of
instructor and parents.
Art and Music in public
schools
For 16 years, SCA has worked with local public schools to develop and
implement arts and music education in the classroom for all grade levels.
Sebastopol Center for the Arts has also developed a docent-led gallery
exhibit tour program to provide local school children with the opportunity
to view and learn about art in a professional gallery setting. This tour
program strives to create relevant ties between the exhibit content and
current California State Curriculum Standards in science, math, language
arts and social studies.
Scholarships
Special fundraising is done each year to provide scholarships to students
needing financial assistance to attend SCA classes. Scholarship forms
are available upon request from the registration coordinator.
Class Descriptions and Schedules
Full class descriptions and instructors' background information for classes
are available in our printed class schedule or by calling the Center at
707-829-4797 or by visiting us at 6780 Depot Street in downtown
Sebastopol.
Please register early
For all classes early registration is strongly encouraged. This ensures
a space in classes that fill quickly, and reduces the incidents of cancellation
a week prior to the starting date due to low enrollment. Registration
may be competed by faxing, mailing or calling in registration form information
and fee payment. Click
